Editorial -- " Masters of Our Fate"
For most human beings, good and evil have to do with choice and with the individual's particular stage in evolution. To understand mundane, "garden variety" evil we must comprehend the meaning of spirituality. The Ageless Wisdom tells us that the word "spiritual" refers to the evolutionary process as it drives the human being forward in sensitivity and consciousness, and that all activity that motivates the human being towards some form of development, even though material, emotional or mental growth rather than overtly "religious", is essentially spiritual.
Approach Towards Externalisation in the Disciple's Consciousness -- Djwhal Khul
Money and Human Consciousness -- John Nash
Through money we can express a range of impulses, from recklessness to selfish prudence to universal love. Money has highly esoteric significance, and understanding this significance will help us manage it more appropriately and make us more comfortable when called upon to give an accounting of our stewardship.
Esoteric and Secret Organisations Throughout the Ages -- G. A. Jansen
When the dark clouds of almost complete ignorance descended on Europe at the beginning of the Middle Ages, groups were silently and courageously passing on the esoteric teaching.
Preparing For the Externalisation -- Barbara Domalske
Humanity as a whole has to be cognizant of the necessity to fully participate in the process and not be bogged down in the everyday problems of daily life. It is the role of disciples to lead the way and set the example of how to live in the world and not be of it. If disciples put this important work on the back burner until the time is convenient then who will invoke the process? Only through our imminent expectancy do we evoke that which is needed and prepared for us. The work demands a focused point of tension that puts everything else last and its focus first.
The Nature of Good and Evil -- John March
If good filled our consciousness then good would fill the earth and there would be no place for the bad. There would be no place for nothing because it was all filled with something. It all starts and ends in our own thought and where we put our concentration. Seeing and knowing only good is the act of leading a spiritual life on earth. There is a great future for humanity to embrace, if only we will have the courage to do it. There is a good, loving and enlightened world right here, right now, just waiting to be made visible and we are the means through which it must be done.
The Evil That Men Do -- Tzvetan Todorov
When Churchill called for a veil to be drawn over the past horrors, he was right in a sense, but his injunction must be qualified by all kinds of conditions. No one should prevent memory from being regained. Before we turn the page , said future Bulgarian president Jeliu Jelev after the fall of communism, we should first read it. And forgetting means very different things to evil doers and to their victims. For the latter, it is an act of generosity and faith in the future; for the former it results from cowardice and refusal to accept responsibility.
Beethoven: A Forerunner -- Hilda Hechter
Through music we discover the immanence of the transcendent and recognise the divine as a hidden component of our own spiritual being. The music lover learns that sounds are the audible manifestation of an invisible being. Great music is inspired. Inspiration has always been the source of true creativity. The music of the masters was inspired-infused in the mind or communicated to the spirit of the composer, the expression of the sounds the composer listened to with his inner ear.
