In spite of all that is said by the Tibetan teacher and numerous great sages about the necessity to use thought and speech constructively, there does not seem to be an adequate understanding of the power of mental energy when it is applied by the trained and organised mind, and especially by a group of minds trained to work in unison. Yet the consecrated mind is the most potent resource available to us for world betterment. And in gaining a deeper appreciation of this power, we can contribute to humanity’s capacity to assume responsibility for its part in the unfolding Plan.

We are called by the Tibetan to take part in these Festivals, Wesak and the Christ’s Festival, "with a free play of the imagination" and I’ve often wondered why. Perhaps it’s that by using the imagination we draw upon whatever tiny sprouts of spiritual understanding and reason lie within us. Buddha said look not to anyone outside yourself for help—not because we shouldn’t ask for assistance but because the seeds of our salvation from our own self-created misery already exist within us, awaiting germination.
