Problems of Humanity - Spiritual Aspects of Globalization

Today we are confronted by signs of turbulence, uncertainty and change on a global scale. The nation-state, the free market and traditional religions, which have proved adequate for so long, are showing unmistakable signs of strain as they struggle to deal with the new realities of a profoundly inter-connected world. All are suffering from a lack of vision. In fact, the crisis they face can only be described as spiritual, so far-reaching are its implications. Humanity is being called upon to mobilise its deepest resources of heart and mind, to respond to an era of growing integration and synthesis. Can we collectively learn to set aside, once and for all, the barriers in consciousness which have until now separated nationalities, religions, and social classes from one another, and learn to work for one humanity? On this question turns nothing less than the future of the world.

Concerned people of goodwill need a deepened understanding of the basic problems underlying the present world crisis, so they can contribute effectively to the transition into a new civilisation and consciousness. The challenge of establishing right human relationships between peoples and nations should be of paramount concern to these people, who are the hope of the future. Only they, in their millions, can create the enlightened public opinion that will turn the tide of world events.

These web pages are an online experiment in assisting people of goodwill to understand world events, and to contribute their ideas towards possible solutions.

Important notice, 10 April 2006: The Discussion Forums have been temporarily suspended, due to technical difficulties. Thank you for your patience while we seek to resolve these problems.

Update, 15 May 2006: Regrettably, it has not proven possible to resolve the technical issues with the Discussion Forums. We are therefore having to suspend the forums. As it happens, this nearly concides with a significant change coming shortly. As you may already know, the Lucis Trust will soon be migrating to a new web site (see http://www1.lucistrust.org/newsite/index.shtml for details). This site operates in a different way than our current site, which means that these forums cannot readily be transferred. Consequently, we will need to begin the forums again from scratch. We are going to take this opportunity for renewal to re-focus these discussions more effectively around the central themes of the Problems of Humanity, as they are broadly outlined in the book by Alice Bailey. As a result, some of the kinds of posts that have previously been accepted on these forums may no longer be regarded as sufficiently relevant to be included. We ask for your understanding in this matter, and would like to remind all users that the Problems of Humanity forums are primarily an experiment in building a group thought-form of solution to the various problems.  We hope that you will continue to support this experiment in consciousness.

The scheduling for this change-over is not yet fully worked out. However, we expect it will be a matter of no more than a few weeks. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed in the spirit of goodwill to these forums, and hope that you will visit the new forums when they are up and running.
