World Goodwill

Esoteric philosopher, Alice A. Bailey, has written that one of the tasks of the new group of world servers is to introduce the energy of the will-to-good into the world and that this energy would, in turn, be expressed by humanity as "goodwill". It was, in part, this realisation that led, in 1932, to the founding of World Goodwill which was established to promote right human relations and to help solve humanity's problems through the constructive power of goodwill. Through the inner, subjective work of Triangles the network of light and goodwill is being created, which in its own way is empowering the outer, objective work of World Goodwill. The intent is to create an interwoven pattern of light and goodwill which must underlie or substand all outer service work.

The most contagious human quality which can be organised and made effective is goodwill. Yet we might well ask is the energy of goodwill able to overcome the fires of hatred and separatism in our troubled societies? How is this to be achieved? As with all else in the universe, fire can be put to constructive as well as destructive uses. The fire which must be used by disciples is the fire of the will-to-love. By "will-to-love" is meant the love of the WHOLE. Spiritually-aware individuals often speak of the value of "wholeness", but what does wholeness actually look like in everyday life? How does it manifest? When such an inherently good concept manifests, does it look equally good, feel equally good? To be guided by the love of the whole means doing what is needed for the good of all which takes enormous skill-in-action and, of course, farseeing vision. It involves taking firm action, even when doing so may cause pain to some parts of the whole. And so wholeness in manifestation may not always look or feel all that good to everyone concerned, at least not right away. But, then, we are told that pain is our greatest teacher and to experience pain is to experience the lessons of the spiritual path.

This love of the Whole, the will-to-love, has been characterised in the writings of Alice Bailey as, "the loving intention to fire the entire world with the new idea of the 'spirit of relationship.'" And this spirit of relationship touches directly on the work both of Triangles and World Goodwill. In Triangles we seek to relate to one another as souls as points of light and, in so doing, enable the whole of humanity to relate to the spiritual Hierarchy. In the work of World Goodwill, we seek to fan the flames of love through appealing to that aspect of impersonal love which most human beings are presently capable of expressing the energy of goodwill and in so doing add to the reservoir of goodwill thereby making this energy available to more people.

Through the work of Triangles and World Goodwill, we can strengthen the subjective channel between the spiritual Hierarchy of the planet and humanity thereby enabling an increased inflow of light, love and spiritual power to all of humanity. Together, the work of Triangles and World Goodwill can produce those "triangles of fiery light" which will bring into manifestation the fire of goodwill throughout the world.
