It is said that one of the primary functions of the coming World Teacher will be to stand as "The Dispenser of the Water of Life". This relates directly to his work as inaugurator of the Aquarian age which has for its keynote: "Water of life am I, poured forth for thirsty men." The well-known symbol for the sign of Aquarius is that of the "water-carrier", the man carrying the pot of life-giving water that nourishes and sustains all who draw from it. The significance of this water and of the coming Aquarian dispensation was relayed to us in the story of the Last Supper. It is said that a man carrying a pot of water led the disciples to the upper chamber of a room in which a solemn ceremony, a communion feast, was held by the Christ. This ceremony included the sharing of bread and wine - symbolic of the physical and spiritual sharing which will be the keynote of the coming Age. This foretells a time when all of humanity will come together in a spirit of true brotherhood. Right human relations will then work out practically through the sharing of resources and the meeting of the many physical plane needs of all within the human kingdom. This may seem a utopian dream, but we now have available to us the requisite resources with which to implement such changes; all that we lack is the commensurate will. But the Christ's coming work extends beyond the physical plane and as the Dispenser of the Water of Life he will work to meet the spiritual needs of the nations and of all people everywhere who are thirsty for truth, for right human relations and for loving understanding. It is upon this essential livingness, this spiritual vitality, that the new civilisation will be founded. The reactionary forces in every land and in every department of life are seeing their influence lessened, with each passing decade, as humanity takes responsibility for its own destiny, restoring the divine circulatory flow and letting the Plan work out.

The life aspect is universal – underlying and interpenetrating all forms and free from limitations of race, sex, age, religious orientation or economic status – and is available to all who establish the necessary conditions within consciousness. The future will see the coming together of humanity, at all levels of society, demonstrating our essential oneness and working towards the upliftment of the whole. When the Christ last worked openly among the people, his life and his physical presence broke down many barriers within the established order. He related to people in all walks of life and was not held back by the established doctrines of his time and faith. Today the path is being cleared for his return, so that the life-giving waters of which he is the custodian can again do their transformative work.
