Transforming Human Consciousness
is the first of a series of three lead articles that we are featuring
this year in the June, September, and December Bulletins. The
other two articles will explore the themes of International
Unity and Developing the Group Idea. Taken together
these three ideas are emerging as an important pattern in thought
that we can help to develop at this period of human unfoldment.
The theme of
transforming human consciousness is particularly
relevant to Triangles members, as this idea runs like a golden
thread throughout our work. Our spiritual craft involves the
impression of human consciousness with light and love, of raising
human aspiration to touch the realms of God. For so long humanity
has been immersed in the mire of materialism, devoid of lasting
spiritual sustenance. Today, we stand at a crossroads; before
us lies an age of enlightenment, of a global order conditioned
by spiritual values, in which all our fellow human beings can
live and work in peace, stability and goodwill. Just as, in the
past, human civilisation has been characterised by separative
attitudes, so, in the future, human thinking will sense the universality
of life, the right relation of the part to the Whole, and the
all-embracing beneficence of God.
Though we are
far from this goal, remarkable trends in the evolution of human
consciousness, especially in the last three hundred years or
so, have brought humanity to a point of a deepening spiritual
maturity. The piercing searchlight of the soul of humanity is
revealing not only the good, the beautiful and the true, but
also bringing to the surface the undesirable manifestations of
human expression. A great cleansing process is underway, enabling
humanity to confront its past in the light of its accumulated
wisdom and yet to look to the future with a sense of confidence.
These are challenging times, but there is every indication that
humanity is rising to the proffered opportunity, through the
skill and vision of thousands of inspired souls, who work to
ameliorate world conditions in all areas of human life.
These manifold
and diverse spiritual initiatives symbolise an expanding awareness
of the human family, touching levels of spiritual reality that
have, up till now, been the domain of the few. The luminosity,
beauty and creativity of the inner worlds are nearer to us today
than at any time in human history. Through the light and love
generated by the Triangles network, a vast pulsating spiritual
energy flow impresses human consciousness throughout each day,
magnetically attracting people of goodwill everywhere to the
higher principles and values. The transforming of human consciousness
is underway. For each of us, it is a path of self-discovery,
of expanding awareness, of a relentless movement from the periphery
to the centre; and above all, it is an eternal quest for a growing
number of servers to play their part in enabling the human family
to arrive at a deeper identification with the one absolute Reality,
God.
