Letting in the Light
We live in a time of deep uncertainty about the future, when the stability of past
achievements is being challenged, yet the new required patterns have not fully emerged
into the light of recognition. When we think of “letting in the light” in such
a period, we must ask what blocks the light? Surely the answer is the darkness of selfish
materialism and separativeness. Yet, we can say “the forces are with us” because the energy
of the incoming age is that of the seventh ray which fosters the fusion of spirit and matter.
Light is both the effect of spirit and matter coming into relation with each other and the
agent which reveals the relation between the two poles of spirit and matter—of purpose
and manifestation.
This touches upon the ultimate destiny of humanity, which is to be the planetary light-bearer.
When we sound the first stanza of the Great Invocation — “From the point of Light within
the Mind of God let light stream forth into the minds of men. Let Light descend on Earth” —
we invoke the fulfilment of humanity’s destined purpose. As the words of the Invocation imply,
it is a purpose that is fulfilled through the creation of an alignment, of a channel through
which the energy of light can flow. This channel requires a group, unitedly focused in selfless
dedication to the meeting of world need.
The three spiritual Festivals, and particularly the Wesak Festival when the Forces of
Enlightenment pour into the world, are an opportunity to participate in a group alignment
through which light can be transmitted: from the Buddha, Lord of Light, through the spiritual
Hierarchy and into humanity and the planet, if the new group of world servers and all men and
women who aspire to unity, interrelationship and interdependence take their place within that
alignment and thus complete the channel of energy flow. It matters not that each participant
may not be fully aware of the significance of this alignment or its furthest extent in
consciousness. Each mind and heart that quickens in response to a sense of relationship to
and within the Whole is helping to fulfil the intended purpose of the Festivals.
The service of Triangles is a splendid example of a group channel for the letting in of light.
Through the united meditation of a group working unselfishly, with no expectation of any benefit
other than the service of the Plan, the Light and Love of God can be released into the world.
Let us work in meditation to radiate light and goodwill into human consciousness and thus help
to let in the light.
