Report on Worldwide Triangles Meetings
In the last issue of the Bulletin we featured a report on the Triangles seminars held
on 9 November 2002 in the three headquarters centres: New York,
Geneva and London.
In this issue we are pleased to report on the Triangles meetings organised by groups
throughout the world also held on 9 November to coincide with the seminars in the three
headquarters centres. All these meetings provided a simultaneous global focus
on Triangles.
Australia: Sydney Goodwill unit of service in Australia featured an
hour’s focus on Triangles at the end of another spiritual event. The group reports that
it proved to be “a deeply focused group ending with a symbolic lighting of candles in
groups of three with rose petals and a reading from the ‘Old Commentary’, and ending by
sounding the Great Invocation and the OM.”
Colombia: The Medellin Goodwill unit of service in Colombia, South America
organised a meeting with two other groups: Hogares Claret and Un Curso en
Milagros (A Course in Miracles). Using the Triangles Seminar theme: An Emerging
Pattern of Light, the meeting also embraced the idea of ‘Three groups: one common
work consecrated to the Christ.’
A representative from each group gave a presentation. Gabriel Mejia, a priest from
Hogares Claret, who is also President of the Latin American Federation of Therapeutic
Communities, spoke on “The Great Invocation and its Relation to our Understanding of
Spiritual Work and our Way of Service”. Mr. John J. Cardenas from Un Curso en Milagros
focused on “The Universality of the Experience in the Light of a Course in Miracles”. And
the writer and co-operator with the Medellin Goodwill unit of service, Luis Eduardo Yepes,
author of ‘Closer to the Soul’, spoke on “The Service of Triangles as a means of raising
Human Consciousness”.
Nearly eighty people attended the meeting, which ended with a group meditation. The group
comments: “The experience of creatively adapting the deep sense of the service of Triangles,
and applying it to a triangular group work, ended up being very meaningful.”
Czech Republic: Three co-workers—Jan and Ludmila Kaleta, and Peter
Weiss—in Ostrava, the Czech republic, held a Triangles meeting. The opening talk was an
introduction to Triangles. This was followed by a group discussion period.
The video of the Great Invocation was shown and a group meditation followed. After a break,
there was another presentation and the meeting ended with a group meditation.
New Zealand: The Triangle Centre in Paekakariki, New Zealand held a Triangles
Workshop. The workshop opened with the group listening to a recording of the adapted version
of the Great Invocation, linking with “the generations of people who have worked in the
network while they are in incarnation and with the thousands of triangles in the network
today”. Then the group linked up with all the other Triangles gatherings throughout the world.
After this, there was a short introduction to Triangles and a group meditation followed.
The group reports: “We had a fascinating group discussion on Triangles, interspersed with
some brief quotations from DK on the Triangles movement—the discussion focused on
individuals’ experience of their work in different triangles over the years.”
Two talks followed: Lani Murphy, an esoteric healing teacher, spoke about the use of Triangles
in healing. And Julie Coulson, a pianist and lecturer at Wellington’s Massey University Music
Department, talked about the role of the triad in music—harmonics and the nature of
hierarchy in music. Julie is currently preparing a proposal for a PhD, which will explore
the Ageless Wisdom understanding of sound and its significance. The workshop ended with a
short meditation and tea. The group comments: “It really was a very beautiful afternoon’s
work.”
Nigeria: The Agbor unit of service held a Triangles seminar in Nigeria.
The group writes: “The seminar was successfully conducted. We downloaded from Lucis Trust’s
web site and printed in colour all the e-mantrams, articles on Triangles and Science of
Meditation which were distributed to Triangles participants.”
The group also designed and produced Triangles stickers, and reprinted in colour the Great
Invocation bookmarks, which were distributed to participants and other units of service in
Nigeria for wider distribution.
In his address, Harry Juwe of the Agbor unit of service, commented: “The purpose of this
seminar is to provide a forum for group discussion and deliberation on the theme of Triangles
work as an effective way of letting in more light and goodwill into our troubled world of
today. The aim is to promote a better understanding of the significance of Triangles work
and to encourage participants to form prayer triangles of their own and join in this
growing planetary work of building a better world of tomorrow.”
Nigeria: The Eket unit of service in Nigeria reports: “We are glad to let
you know that Eket unit of service joyously conducted a Triangles seminar on November 9,
2002. Prior to the day of the seminar, many copies of the notice were sent out to people
far and near. Some were placed on the public Notice Boards. We also reproduced and
distributed to people papers about the Triangles work and the seminar.”
The seminar featured a number of talks, group meditation and discussion periods. Mr. Victor
Amaunam opened the meeting and later on in the afternoon spoke on “Service as a Way of Life.”
Mr. Sunday Udo’s talk focused on “Triangles: An Emerging Pattern of Light.” This was followed
by a talk on “The Challenge of International Unity” by Chief Victor D. Ikot. And Barrister
E.T. Ekwere spoke on “The Problem of the Children of the World”. The seminar ended with a
closing address and a group meditation.
Portugal: ‘Grupo de Estudos Maitreya’ in Portugal arranged a meeting to
highlight the work of Triangles. The meeting programme included presentations on Triangles,
World Goodwill and the Lucis Trust. Information on how to do the Triangles work was handed
out, along with World Goodwill literature. A group meditation on Triangles was also included.
South Africa: Ann Hamm, a co-worker in South Africa, organised a workshop.
Anne comments: “Ten friends arrived on the 9th November to do a Mandala workshop
with the London meeting in mind. The idea of Triangles was put across to the group. Anne
goes on to write: “It did not take long before only the sound of pastels on paper could be
heard—total silence in an envelope of peace hovered over everyone as we synchronised
times and linked subjectively with the group meditation in London.
“Two hours went by in a blink. Everyone reported an intense preoccupation and a conscious
loss of time and external events. We ended the afternoon by photographing the paintings
over a cup of tea and some shared thoughts. I was struck by the amount of peace everyone
had felt and the sense of interconnectedness we all shared.
“Each person had experienced some deep enjoyment from the afternoon’s proceedings and
expressed a desire to participate again. A follow up is being arranged for the Wesak
Full/New Moon meditations.
“Thank you for suggesting we participate in this group endeavour. Not only was it
beneficial for those who participated but we also built bridges and perhaps a few more
triangles will emerge.”
